Joe Koshin makes his debut on Buried Records with his new EP ‘Inside’. Originally from Yorkshire, Joe’s introduction to dance music was forged in the North-east’s lively dance scene. This is where the sounds of Dubstep and Drum & Bass first piqued his interest in Electronic music. Currently based in London, he has developed his style in the renowned dance culture of the capital, elements of Breakbeat, Electro and Garage began to feature more prominently in his musical output. Rinse FM, Balamii, Planetaria Soundsystem, Childsplay and 199 have supported Koshin’s recent releases.

With all three tracks from the album being made during the pandemic, eerie tones can be heard throughout the EP reflecting the struggles we have all faced recently. Joe explains ‘I got myself into a pretty deep creative rut, and my output was at a real low'. With this lack of motivation, he struggled to make time for music and even considered throwing in the towel.

‘Inside’ was the first track that shifted his musical outlook and brought back the creative spark missing over those difficult months. The opening track brings together floaty vocals, raw Breakbeat and unapologetic bass that injects energy into the EP from the get-go. ‘Storm Dub’ was initially crafted to a Minimal 2-Step sound, but with time evolved into what Joe describes as a ‘Garage-meets-Ghetto’ hybrid. The final track ‘There’s Nothing’ pays homage to the Brazilian music Joe discovered during the lockdown. Clever sampling fuses cultural influence with his fierce sound seamlessly and is the hidden gem within this release.

After temporarily adjusting to life indoors, ‘Inside’ offers a glimpse to the light at the end of the tunnel, when club doors reopen and movement can be witnessed on dance floors once more.
